Synopsis: A pre-Adamite cry: O, for the glory of Your majesty, I will scale the heights to be as Thee (cf. Isaiah 14:12-14; Genesis 3; Ezekiel 28; Luke 15). But Adam failed God when he yielded to the temptation of sin after which mankind suffers physical, moral and spiritual corruption to which Adam our progenitor, though pardoned, weighs down with guilt at the utter depravity of man to this day.
lyrics
ADAM’S LAMENT
Sold my soul to my demise
All for a woman and some devise
To ‘be like God’ and be likewise
A fool was sought such was I
When I came to my senses
And my innocence forlorn
Will there be second chances
Now that Paradise is gone?
Cried me a river the fault is mine
I’m all but a ripple and a thorn in your side
To 'be like God' and be likewise
A fool was sought such was I (reprise)
Sold my soul to my demise
All for a woman and the spice of life
Don't think twice, just compromise
Blame it on the woman, the Serpent, the lie
When I came to my senses
And my innocence forlorn
Will there be second chances
Now that Paradise is gone?
Cried me a river the fault is mine
I’m all but a ripple and a thorn in your side
To 'be like God' and be likewise
A fool was sought such was I
